Coraopolis Commissary

Above is the commissary commercial building being spray foamed near Pittsburgh PA.

Coastal Insulation (servicing NJ, NY, PA, CT, DE, MA, VT) was contracted to insulate a new 43,000 SF commissary being built by Carothers Construction in Coraopolis, PA.  The work consisted of applying 2" of closed cell foam (icynene spray foam) to the exterior walls from floor to underside of roof deck.  Coordination with the mechanical and framing trades was essential to allow for an uninterrupted install which was completed in just 1 week and allowed the project to continue on schedule.  Coastal Insulation was able to complete such a large closed cell spray foam project in such a short amount of time by using one of their multiple douple spraying units.  This allowed for twice the amount of production to be completed per day than if a single sprayer unit was being used.  Our qualified and professional applicators are dedicated employees and important, integral parts of our organization and are essential in the success of our organization.  They, along with our rig and our full time mechanic stayed out in PA, residing in a hotel, until the job was completed.

Coastal Insulation specializes in commercial, industrial, and governemnt projects as well as residential, custom homes, track housing, national developers such as Khov, Ryan Homes, Beazer Homes etc and performs the application of open cell and closed cell spray foam as well as fiberglass Insulation installation in all regions of the Northeast.

Some information on the new commissary:

The Pentagon has freed up $17.2 million to build a new commissary and post exchange on county-owned land west of Pittsburgh.

The plans call for a 43,000-square-foot supermarket, the commissary, and a 10,000-square-foot department store, or post exchange, on land owned by Allegheny County in Moon Township.

Planning for the new facilities began when the Defense Department announced in 2005 that it was closing the Charles E. Kelly Military Support Facility in Oakdale. That base did finally close in 2009, but the commissary and PX there have remained open until the new facilities could be built.

The stores serve about 170,000 active, retired and reserve military members and their families within a 100-mile radius.
