Coraopolis Commissary

Above is the commissary commercial building being spray foamed near Pittsburgh PA.

Coastal Insulation (servicing NJ, NY, PA, CT, DE, MA, VT) was contracted to insulate a new 43,000 SF commissary being built by Carothers Construction in Coraopolis, PA.  The work consisted of applying 2" of closed cell foam (icynene spray foam) to the exterior walls from floor to underside of roof deck.  Coordination with the mechanical and framing trades was essential to allow for an uninterrupted install which was completed in just 1 week and allowed the project to continue on schedule.  Coastal Insulation was able to complete such a large closed cell spray foam project in such a short amount of time by using one of their multiple douple spraying units.  This allowed for twice the amount of production to be completed per day than if a single sprayer unit was being used.  Our qualified and professional applicators are dedicated employees and important, integral parts of our organization and are essential in the success of our organization.  They, along with our rig and our full time mechanic stayed out in PA, residing in a hotel, until the job was completed.

Coastal Insulation specializes in commercial, industrial, and governemnt projects as well as residential, custom homes, track housing, national developers such as Khov, Ryan Homes, Beazer Homes etc and performs the application of open cell and closed cell spray foam as well as fiberglass Insulation installation in all regions of the Northeast.

Some information on the new commissary:

The Pentagon has freed up $17.2 million to build a new commissary and post exchange on county-owned land west of Pittsburgh.

The plans call for a 43,000-square-foot supermarket, the commissary, and a 10,000-square-foot department store, or post exchange, on land owned by Allegheny County in Moon Township.

Planning for the new facilities began when the Defense Department announced in 2005 that it was closing the Charles E. Kelly Military Support Facility in Oakdale. That base did finally close in 2009, but the commissary and PX there have remained open until the new facilities could be built.

The stores serve about 170,000 active, retired and reserve military members and their families within a 100-mile radius.

Hybrid Renovation - Fiberglass/Spray Foam

Below is one of Coastal Insulations double spray foam rigs.  This allows two sprayers to be operating simultaneously, allowing for a job to get compelted twice as quickly.  Coastal has a multitude of spray foam rigs, including multiple double sprayer set ups.

Historic Hudson Valley - White Plains, NY

Posted by Richard Antille on Fri, Jul 26, 2013

White Plains, NY is home to the Hudson Valley’s new regional history center, which of course preserves the region’s vintage documents and exhibits. The facility - located on a nine-acre site donated by the estate of Laurence Rockefeller - opened in 2011 and allows historians to preserve items that may not fit in other sites in the valley. The building is also home to the historic society’s library, and more than 16,000 artifacts dating as far back as the 1600s, including artwork, books, manuscripts, and even maps. It goes without saying that the organization wants to do everything it can to preserve the community’s historic heritage, and the new building helps them do just that. The Historic Hudson Valley center also hosts many special events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops, and weddings.

The new headquarters is also environmentally friendly, containing many “green” materials like computer-driven controls that regulate geothermal heating and cooling; in fact, the temperatures are controlled by whichever rooms are occupied. Other green elements include solar-assisted hot water and closed cell spray foam insulation provided by Coastal Insulation.

As we have mentioned in prior blog posts, closed cell spray foam insulation helps block out air and water vapors, and rises to become an insulator for the building. As a result, it keeps unwanted air and heat from getting inside, which could damage historic documents or files. In addition, it helps seal cracks and gaps in the walls or foundation, preventing rodents or insects from seeping through, both of which could also damage items on display. In addition, Coastal spray foam does not lose its shape, which provides the potential to preserve the important and historic documents.
